In defense of the functionally illiterate...

Earlier this week, the Buffalo News editorial board penned the following:

"OK, this is disturbing: According to a national study of literacy on college campuses, more than half the students at four-year schools and more than three-quarters of the students at two-year colleges can't understand the arguments of newspaper editorials."

In defense of those studied, if the editorials presented were those of the Buffalo News, I think we can all understand their general inability to comprehend the arguments presented.
